The Decorative Purposes Of Miniature Paintings At Home

By Robert Hudson

The term miniature painting is defined in different ways; the techniques, the magnitude of portrayed object to the depicted object or the size of the two. The art began in Western world and it includes many forms of painting like portraits of saints and angels. Various scenes from daily life of the middle Ages are also found in this division of art.

The manuscript artists begin to make royal people portraits or of other private customers when the printing press started. People then used to carry the miniature paintings in their pockets or bags the way the photo of a very dear one is carried.

For making a miniature painting, a close observation is required in terms of techniques, skills and knowledge. There are different painting materials used in this art technique. The surfaces used are also different. The principle however lies in the composition and use of different colors.

The size of miniature paintings different and there is no agreement on specific size by the artists. Some make paintings of 11x14" which includes the frame also. Other guidelines suggest to have the painting of 5x7" or lesser. This includes the frame size also.

The size and its specifications are ignored by some experts. They are of the view that the thing that matters in a miniature painting is the "miniaturization" factor. As long as this factor is accurate in the painting, the painting is worthwhile. The size of the painting can even be as large as a room will even but the depicted object has to be small enough.

The miniature paintings have got popular on a number of accounts. The small size is one factor that makes them ideal for display on walls or in small offices. Some people prefer to have a collection of miniature paintings to decorate a large place instead of having a large full size single image.

Another thing that makes the miniature paintings famous is the reasonable price it is sold at. Many people love paintings but the high price on the account of the large size of the paintings deprive them of the opportunity to appreciate the art they love. For such people miniatures are best as they can enjoy the pleasure of having original paintings at a price that is very reasonable.

If you believe miniature paintings have their place on the office tables or apartment wall, you are probably wrong. They can be used to decorate any place you want, be it the coffee table, fireplace, study table, meeting room or shelves. Your friends and family members will also feel really happy if you choose beautiful miniature paintings for them as gift.
