The Secret Behind Making A Dog Portrait

By Ava Sullivan

The dog is guardian of the shadowy land between life and death, according to one artist. Black and white paintings and those seen at a local restaurant near her street was where this artist became to know more about the meaning of shadow dogs. With a fine arts degree from a university in New Mexico she has debut her work in so many states in the country. Not to mention her various awards in fabrics, photography and printmaking.

Currently this artist likes working with frogs. Steel is what she made her work out of and it measures about 10 feet high. The name she bestowed on her creation was a young girl's fascination with frogs.

She also did a study on non rational states of consciousness. Her work shows off the links to certain shamanistic beliefs and how a person and an animal can work together by combining forms. Our civilization will not cease to exist if we remember and learn the ways of surviving like back in the day. We should already learn how to work with other life forms how since it is essential to our survival.

Collaboration is the main theme in her monoprints of dogs. Not only does she volunteer at a local humane society but she always works for the local news. When it comes to the strays on the street, she has adopted about four.

There animals are all over her monoprints. With this she has to work rapidly making sure she does everything all at once. Each time one has to be mindful of two things. The procedure is very physical.

Most cases even if there is an image one can only wonder what the real picture is going to be. She tries to capture the honest emotion in her portraits of dogs.

Her work never fails to capture a moment in a dog's life that is either humorous or absurd. In her portraits the dogs would usually be yawning, sleeping in the grass, portrayed with their heads lost in a culvert or a can of kibble.

Titles are significant as well. No need to confuse yourself with the story to find it funny. Her work also included those that were commissioned by owners. She also has a business with her husband where they collaborate.
