What To Do If You Want To Clean Your Digital Camera

By Kerry Collins

It would make sense to ensure your digital camera is in good working order if you have one. If we don't regularly clean the device it can mean our photos don't look as good as they should and we will be reducing the lifespan of the camera. However when it comes to actually cleaning a digital camera, you have to take care as you could end up causing a lot of damage if you don't do this correctly.

Below are a few tips for those who would like to clean their digital camera.

- To clean the outside of the digital camera you are going to need a lint-free cloth. If you try to clean your camera with a cloth that has lint in it, you could damage the device because lint contains twisted fibres. That is why it is very important to make sure that the cloth you use is lint free. You could even buy a special cloth that has actually been made for cleaning digital cameras.

- Using a soft brush, you can remove any particles that might have been caught in the lens.

- Touching the lens or screen with anything can cause damage so a possible way to clean these is to use canned air although you need to be careful that the can is not to near the camera as it could force dust into areas where it shouldn't go. There are some people who would advise against using canned air so you really will have to be careful.

- It is never a good idea to clean the sensor with a cloth as this could damage the camera. If you do find that there are marks that cannot be removed with the canned air then lens cleaner is the best option. You should use a special lens tissue if you need to get rid of s stubborn stain.

- There are special cleaning pens available that can be used for cleaning the lens and screen.
