Underwater Digital Cameras - What You Have to Know

By James Cook

Underwater digital cameras allow you to seize the secrets of the deep. (Whether or not that is the ocean or the recent tub!)

However regardless that you like water -- your camera doesn't. Before you go off chasing the fishes like Jacques Cousteau, there are a number of issues about underwater photography it's worthwhile to know.

For starters, do you know the digital camera you already own may be transformed to an underwater camera? Yes it may well! With the correct gear that is. A watertight casing let's you employ your favorite camera for these 'below the ocean' moments.

However in case you're not prepared to threat your camera to the ocean's depths, there are plenty of models on the market to decide on which are made to get wet. More on that later.

How deep are you able to go along with your underwater digital camera? Some fashions will permit you to go as far 120 feet. For others, you're restricted to only 6 feet beneath the surface. Take into account the type of images you are intending to capture and the cameras capabilities when choosing the proper model. (Once more, more to follow!)

Like all cameras, the worth varies in line with the features it comes with. You can get a 'cheapie' underwater digital camera for as low as $30. And people conversant in photography know the higher finish of all quality photography gear could be somewhat costly - and unending. Professional models can go for a thousand dollars ... and up!

Finances underwater cameras include fewer mega pixels and not many options. After all, for a value, you can select the exact options you want (and are willing to pay for).

There are a few things to bear in mind when you're out searching for an underwater digital camera. First, the pixel count. Most cameras offered as we speak have greater than sufficient mega pixels. Having extra MPs does not essentially mean better pictures. It is the scale of the camera's sensor that will in the end decide photograph quality. You are typically higher off shopping for a model identify digital camera with fewer pixels than an off-brand mannequin with a bigger number.

A little mega pixel tip: In the event you in the end wish to post your picture on the net or send it in an e mail, any mega pixel dimension will do. Really! Your computer screen can solely display so much detail so these super-duper measurement mega pixel cameras are not needed.

For printing photos, the dimensions of the final picture will determine your mega pixel count. For a 4x6 print, you'll do nice with only a three MP camera. (Until you want to do a whole lot of zooming and cropping).

If you want 8x10 prints, a 5MP or larger digital is what you need. However mega pixels are only part of the equation. Finally the sharpness of your final picture is a result of the dig cam, the lens, lighting, and the standard of your dig cam sensor, not just the number of mega pixels.

You could want to 'stick your toe within the water' with a disposable underwater camera. These little numbers are cheap and are simple to carry. You may get them in film for a couple of bucks.

For family enjoyable at the seashore or pool, a relatively cheap movie camera is your finest bet. (The kids could have a blast with it too!) The bad news is that you'll have to attend till the photographs are developed earlier than you can see your thrilling underwater shots.
