How To Operate Your Digital Camera

By Vincent Schwartz

Digital camera is a popular device that is used to take nice high quality shots under any conditions. As a matter of fact, there are a great variety of digital cameras represented by numerous trademarks. These items vary in price and technical characteristics and have a large number of functions promoting the quality of taken photos and making operation easier and more convenient.

The price and features of a digital camera determine its standard set and usability. Normally, a digital camera purchase includes additional accessories such as the battery and the charger, the memory card, connection cables for connecting to the PC or TV, carrying case, cleaning cloth for the lens, etc. which are all needed to make use of the camera.

It is suggested that customers confirm additional items are available before purchasing a camera. If it is not manufactured with automatic shutters, it is suggested that the customer attach a cap and strap to their new camera in order to protect the lens and avoid losing the cap.

In order to start using your camera and take advantage from its functions it is necessary to charge it and press "ON" button. The lens zooms out and camera is ready for operation. There are many functions of a standard digital camera depending on the model. Standard functions available on practically all digital cameras are: "ON/OFF" button (to activate/deactivate camera); "Menu" (to access a desired function); "Zoom" button (to set distance); "Scope" regime (to view taken photos) and "Snap" button (to make photos).

Unlike ordinary camera, digital type involves use of a snap button for two times. First time pressing involve subject focus, exposure, and data display on LCD screen. Second time pressing involve confirmation of shot. Besides, one can also set manually functions like zoom, good exposure etc., for picture perfect photographs, using a menu screen.

Normally "Zoom" function has got two positions: a) zoom defocusing b) activation of digital zoom. First position makes the objects visually closer; the second one makes them visually remote. "Scope" function allows viewing taken shots with the purpose of either saving or deleting them.

After taking a photo you can download it to PC or view by inserting a memory card into a slot.
