What the Photo Restoration Vendors Don't Tell You

By Jennifer Hoskins

Using photo restoration services to make your old photos look like new is a great option to preserve your old memories. Indeed there are many such services available in your neighborhood. However, before you commit to a particular service, there are few things you should know about them that will help you get the best value out of them.

In order to attract customers, all services claim to make you old blurred photos look like they were taken yesterday. They also claim to give you man services such as various corrections for free. Be informed that these things are not done by magic, but using specialized photo editing software, which may be very simple or sophisticated.

These services are of course, experts in using software such as Adobe Photoshop and will do a better job than you can do. However, some of the free services that they offer usually something that take merely seconds using a single click of a button. Don't let that be a factor when choosing a photo service.

On the other side of the coin, some photo restoration services will call these same free services as premium features and charge your extra money for the job. This is a mean tactic used by them and again, they don't take more than a few clicks here and there to do the job. Tell the vendor that you won't pay for these features or else go for another vendor.

Also remember that there is a lot of software in the market that does photo manipulation such as Photoshop and GIMP that will do the automatic corrections. However, you go to specialized photo restoration services because they will do a lot of job manually and many of the corrections are really difficult and time consuming to do.

Make sure that the service that you are subscribing to does its job manually and not just using automated software. Sometimes, using automatic procedures does not produce the best results. In these cases, manual changing allows you to change the photos shape and color with as much customization as you want.

Many photo restoration services will offer you a free print of the photos that you want to manipulate. In many cases, they print your photos out on low quality photo paper and using cheap printers. Make sure that the photos that you are getting out of them are printed out on really good and durable printers.

A free print of your restored photo shouldn't be a factor when you are considering one vendor among many. You should also check out the average price for photo restoration in the market. Many vendors tend to take advantage of customers and charge them much more than they should.

Once you have noted the above factors and taken them into consideration, you should be able to decide on the best photo restoration service available in your area. All the best with your photo restoration!
