The Floor Easel - the Ultimate Sales Tool

By Kylie Scott

What do you think of when you think of a floor easel? Most people think of the artist's easel, even though they see easels everywhere, every day. The reason why they don't notice them is because they are so effective at doing their job: you notice what is being displayed and not the stand it is being displayed on.

Next time you're wandering through a mall, take a look around and see how the floor easel is put to good use all around you. A gourmet cafe will have one just outside the door advertising their lunchtime specials. Elsewhere, an upmarket boutique will have one displaying a poster of the latest trendy fashion brand. Unless you really stop and think about it, you don't realize how much the easel style influences your opinion about what you are likely to find inside the shop.

Once inside the premises, the first thing that catches your eye will be another floor easel. This one may be supporting an item that is one sale or a poster promoting a brand name. Whatever it is, before you notice what is on the racks or tables, you notice what is displayed on the floor easel.

What makes the floor easel such an effective display? There are several things that can explain why. For one thing, it is at the perfect height to catch the eye. For another, unlike wall displays, which are flat and two-dimensional, it is three dimensional. For a third, it is portable, so can be placed to best advantage.

There is nothing that beats a floor easel for portability. You can take it virtually anywhere. If you need to present a sales pitch at a meeting, you can carry a collapsible model with you and erect it in seconds. If you're going to a trade show or a convention, you can pack several in the back of a car. They can go wherever you have to go, easily and economically.

There are so many uses for a decorative floor easel, it is hard to know where to begin. A lightweight, elegant easel makes a perfect stand for a menu just inside a gourmet restaurant. A more sturdy one can hold a floor copy of an expensive large format book open to a particularly beautiful photograph or drawing. These examples don't even begin to scratch the surface.

Now that you have been introduced to them, you are more likely to notice the stand that displays an item that captures your attention than you were before. Take a moment to look at it next time you see one. Do you see how the design subtly changed your perception of a product? Take a peak behind. Do you see how easy it would be to fold it up and carry it away? Now that you have been introduced, can you see what uses you could put a floor easel to in your home or business?
