What You Need to Know about SELPHY Photo Printers

By John Alston

It is a fact that Canon printers are very well-known in the industry of printing. The name has long been associated with top quality digital imaging devices, and when the company produced printers, it was a big leap that enhanced their industry even more. The company now offers printers which are especially designed to print photos, and the SELPHY photo printers belong to this category.

SELPHY photo printers are made to be perfectly useful for on-the-go and travel photo printing, given their design and structure. They are engineered to have small sizes and light weights which are ideal for travel. Because they are very good for producing lab-quality photos anytime, anywhere, professional photographers love to use these devices. There are five models under the SELPHY product line.

The SELPHY CP800 is a simple rectangular-shapes device with a tilt-up 2.5'' LCD display. The printer comes in black or white colors and it is the smallest and lightest model in the entire SELPHY product line. It can print a 4'' x 6'' photo in 47 seconds and it even has a shuffle feature for fitting different sizes of ID photos in one postcard paper.

The SELPHY CP780 also sports the simple and rectangular appearance but its screen is not tilt-up. It is available in silver, pink, and blue, which adds more personality to the device. It has the same speed as the CP800 model and it can also print ID photos.

The SELPHY CP790 has a unique design, sporting a pail-shaped appearance in apple green color. The pail provides a carry handle as well as a storage space inside, while the cover of the pail is the printer itself. It has a 3.0'' LCD display that is embedded on the cover and its easy scroll wheel makes it easier to operate. Apart from the standard connectivity options of all SELPHY models which include PictBridge, USB, memory card slots, and optional Bluetooth, this device also has infrared connectivity.

The SELPHY ES40 is also unique with an egg-shaped design and a carrying handle. Its AC adapter is integrated which is different from most other models. Its 3.5'' LCD display is embedded, it has an easy scroll wheel, and it even has voice command which makes it easier to operate. It has several programs included for photo printing such as DIGIC II, Creative Print, and Gold/Silver Print.

The SELPHY ES3 has an almost exact appearance as that of the ES40 model including the easy scroll wheel and 3.5'' LCD display. But this device has built-in infrared connectivity, adding more wireless capability to it as compared to other models. But it doesn't have DIGIC II even if it has the other photo printing programs. It also has built-in memory which enabled you to save photos directly in the device for future use.

Because these SELPHY models are especially engineered for on-the-go printing purposes, photographers love to use them for their photography activities, whether profitable or not. The prices of these devices are also very reasonable that's why for their excellent functions, these devices are definitely worth the investment.
