Some Commercial Photography Hints

By Shawn Smith

As an online or catalogue retailer, you will know the seriousness of having great pictures to promote and present your products and services in the best way. Therefore finding the right commercial photographer is crucial. It can make or break your business. Never underestime the power of what a good image can achieve for your business. Additionally, for branding purposes, awareness and perception can be made with a the right image from a commercial photographer.

Never put down the power of what a great product image can achieve. Here are some hints to do with commercial photography.

- Be prepared by doing your research and have a short outline of the goals that wish to achieve. This may refer to the branding of your company or goods and services you are offering to potential customers.

- Identify your financial position and if you've got any constraints. Commercial photography is expensive and is an investment into your future. You will need to advise any potential photographer of your budget. A good photographer will keep this in mind and endorse an approach that will keep within budget and start you in the right path.

- Submit your brief with a timeline and make sure the professional photographer follows the brief. Have checkpoints so that a job isn't completed and you're unhappy. Checkpoints allow you to make suggestions on the way.

- If you have a brand and a current catalog of work, then ensure the photographer can see what you have. The photographer can then look at how they can work and keep within any branding requirements.

- The most important thing is to be sure you have a clear idea of the bigger picture. Know what you are after and ask the photographer to develop a couple of ideas. Be open to their ideas but make sure they understand what you are after and looking for.
