Digitizing Photos For Lifelong Memories

By Kelley Vazquez

When looking for a great way to preserve your memories, look no further than digitizing photos. By taking your paper or analog photo and making it digital you create a variety of options that were not possible before.

Time can take a toll on you analog pictures. Things such as accidents can occur and ruin you captured memories.

When becoming more familiar with digital images and its process there is no comparison to the old traditional way of storing pictures. Reprints are easily created, editing and cropping are much simpler too.

Organization is a positive that comes from transferring your images. Also much more space is created in your home with this process. The pictures are shared easier by sending friends and family emails or by posting pictures on a social networking site.

When choosing to switch your prints you have the option to have them done professionally or you can choose to do it yourself. The things that needs to be taken into consideration is the amount of time that is willing to be put into the project, the number of photos being transferred, as well as the amount of money and equipment you will need. Most professional companies do this process quickly and its not overly priced.

Regardless of your choice the same process will occur. The paper photos, negatives or slides will need to be scanned. The scanning converts and transfers images from the traditional into a digital collection. They can be burnt onto DVDs or Cd's, this is called manual archiving. They also can be put into an external hard drive; this is known as digital archiving.

It is also important to do an online backup. This will protect your files. Keeping regular backups and maintaining the proper software will help avoid any unseen issues.

The end result will be beautiful high resolution pictures that will last a lifetime. Digitizing photos is a great way to restore you photo collection and to organize all of your memories.
