By Dmitry Vasenyov

When you are shopping for a new digital camera, there are a lot of various things that have to be considered and some of them are discusses in this article.

For the beginning, you need to know that purchasing a new digital camera will not make you a better photographer. However, what will actually make you a better photographer is you. But high end digital camera will give you better control over your image making and that's all.

Prior to buying a new camera, you need to determine what you want to do this it. If you want to post your photos on the internet, email them or make small prints for your family albums, then it is enough for you to search for a digital camera with low resolution. For instance, 2 megapixels camera will create an image that could be a high quality 6x4 print. Keep in mind that the majority of entry level SLR cameras start at 6 megapixels and more. And if you need a digital camera to do only mentioned things, then the actual number of megapixels does not have to be a great concern for you.

However if you want to make large sized pictures, then you may need a higher resolution camera. Frankly speaking, more megapixels give you a great opportunity to enlarge your photos.

All the digital cameras come with various features and modes. And several features seem to be included for no other reasons than to be a selling point for a certain model. It takes some research to discern which are going to be handy. But there are several that you have to take into account. Primarily, you need to determine what mode settings the camera has.

Various entry level SLR's have almost the same settings as shoot and point cameras. These are landscape, portrait and low light to name few of them. Of course, these settings make the life much easier, however still the point to move up to an SLR camera is to have more control over your photos.
