Why Is It Important To Choose The Right Portrait Photographer?

By Leonard Sweenerman

For many years, portrait photographers are already employed to capture images of individuals and families to pass down through the generations. The photos that are taken by portrait photographers can disclose details about past years which would otherwise be unknown. History books come to life when they include portraits of famous individuals like Robert E. Lee and Abraham Lincoln.

Portraits are a very important part of our lives, preserving both cultural and individual family histories. A lot of families consider the portraits which have been passed down from generation to generate to be treasures. Since portrait photographs are so significant, you have to select the best portrait photographer for the job when you decide to have portraits taken.

What to Take into Consideration in a Portrait Photographer

When you get in touch with a portrait studio, the first question you need to ask is how long they've been in business. Photographers should have many years of experience. They should also have all of the equipment that is needed to produce the quality portraits you would get from a professional, including lighting, flashes, corrective airbrush technology, clothing, make-up and hair stylists, and props.

They need to have everything you have to make memorable portraits that can be treasured by generations in the future. A lot of people expect more than just lights and posing from the photography studio; they want a professional make-up artist and hair stylist to glamorize and improve their appearance. A studio that can offer make-up and hair styles, and clothing like costumes and dresses, can create remarkable portraits that truly stand out from the rest.

You should inquire with the studio about the different photo packages they have available and how much they cost. It will allow you to compare packages and prices from different studios so you can get exactly what you are looking for at a cost that fits your budget. If you want individual shots taken in addition to family or couple portraits, you have to be sure and ask the studio if the portrait photographer can do all of the shots at one appointment. It might be necessary for an additional appointment to be scheduled for the individual portraits.

You may be in need of location or outdoor portraits and it's important to discuss that with the studio since some of them only do in-studio work. Several portrait photographers are specialized and focus mainly on particular kinds of portraits, like wedding or children photographs, while others might concentrate on family portrait photography. Different portrait photographers are willing to hold sessions in the comfort of your home or nearby locations that reflect your personality and lifestyle, while others are not able to do in-home sessions because they lack transportable equipment. No matter what your needs or budget is, if you check around with various studios, you will be able to find a portrait photographer who can capture stunning, unforgettable images which you and your loved ones can all take pleasure in and be proud of.

Four Camera Tips For Your Digital Projects

By Bill Heath

Have you recently purchased a new camera? It can be a thrill indeed to take photos on a new camera.

But oftentimes when the time comes for you to snap those photos, the image doesn't look as clear as you had hoped. If you want to avoid these feelings of disappointment, take note of the four camera tips below.

Try out different camera exposure settings

Images can look clearer if you try different exposure settings on your camera, such as underexposing the image by 0.5 to 2 stops for brighter areas, to make them look clearer and brighter, if a bit overexposed at times. Just by simple tuning of the exposure level, you can create pictures which can bring out different moods from people viewing it. Thats why the quote "A Picture Says A Thousand Words" is very true indeed ! For newbies, try out bracketing (i.e: Take the same photos with different exposure levels) and take your favorite pick from them.

Using blur to add a creative edge

Another thing you may want to experiment with would be blur - use it wisely and effectively so you could add some complementary features to the photos you take. This can be done in 2 basic types.

The first type of blur you can use is depth-of-field. Try playing around the 0.4 to 1.4 range for the lens aperture to add a subtle touch of blur that adds more focus to the foreground subject.

Also, you can try movement blur. Done by setting the camera exposure on shutter priority, and keep it slow so as to capture interesting streaks as the subject moves in front of the camera.

The rethink

What does it means? This is literally rethinking your approach, thinking back to things you see on a day-to-day basis and figuring out how you can make them look extra special in your photos.

One approach is to create your shot around the common elements around you such as lines, space and patterns. It may be your area's main street, a nearby bridge, or maybe the trees in your area. You start to see more possibilities and room for creativity.

Be original

One thing you must avoid would be doing what has been done before, such as taking photos from popular areas or attractions - this diminishes the freshness and originality these sights used to have. Some tips we suggest would be trying shooting through glasses - an improvised form of 3D photography, or forms of extreme photography, like shooting photos underwater.

What You Should Know About Fuji Instax Cameras And Film

By Maureen Kerr

Fuji Corporation has long been the leader in 35 mm film quality. Their film has consistently delivered striking colors, and images that are sharp and crystal clear. With the Fuji Instax system, they have stepped into the instant film gap left by Polaroid. Instax film is professional quality film that does not suffer in comparison to their 35 mm offerings.

There are a number of situations where a tamper-proof photograph is necessary. These are considered legal evidence. Neither digital photography nor standard film photography can produce an image that cannot be altered. A lawyer may want visual evidence where an accident took place or need to make a copy of a legal document where no copier is available. The instant picture is also useful in documenting an accident on the spot.

There are two basic designs of instant cameras in this series. The minis take a picture the size of a credit card. These pictures are great for your passport, your wallet, or whenever you need a photograph for an identification card. The 210 take a wide screen photograph. Fuji mini film works in any of its mini camera. There are three professional films in addition to the standard instax wide format film. All films come in easy to load packages, with ten pictures per package. Further discounts on the film are possible with larger packages.

Users are impressed by the quality of the images they've gotten from these cameras. The colors are brilliant and images clear. The film requires no extra steps after it is exposed and ejected from the camera. Professionals can choose professional quality black and white or color film in 300 ASA speed. Black and white photographers will also be interested in the 3000B films which offer 3000 ASA speeds.

There are two minis to choose from, the 50S and the 7. The 50S is compact and stylish. It is capable of taking low light shots because of its adjustable shutter speed. There is also 2:1 magnification. Those who like to look in the viewfinder and take the shot will enjoy the 7.

The 210 has traditional styling with a side grip and large viewfinder. The automatic flash adjusts for lighting conditions. The lens is also adjustable for a variety of magnifications. The 210 uses 200 instax film and the specialized professional versions.

Polaroid enthusiasts may find using these cameras a delight. Many had given up on photography once they ran out of Polaroid's instant film. Digital and film photography do not give the instant gratification of this type of film. Digital systems can be complex and hard to master for someone who is not savvy about technology.

One of the attractions of digital photography is seeing in the viewfinder how your picture will turn out. Instant film goes one step farther. You have the actual picture in your hand minutes after the film was exposed. When the quality of the product is as fine as this film is, you have an all around winner.
